In-Lecture Exercise A

For the first lecture activity, we were tasked to sketch (or design) a machine/device that we think will enhance our creativity.

Personally, I felt that a sense of space often evokes and enhances my creativity. Certain landscapes and places evoke certain nostalgia, feelings and memories; which in turn, triggers inspiration. This is because the different spaces can afford and offer a new multiplicity of perspectives in thinking as spaces are often attributed with greater meaning.

I was inspired by the concept of "space" and how it can create different feelings, knowledge and different notions of time -- based on the meaning we attribute to that space. Hence, I sketched a virtual reality headset which functions to project different spaces (i.e. a cafe, like the one shown in the picture below).

The headset also allows me to not only have a 360-degree view of the space but to be able to interact with the space that is projected. This "authentically" puts me into that specific space. It is also a visual avenue for me to explore, where I can try to look at the normal everyday life from a different/fresher perspective.

Thus, I believe that a device like this would be a great source of inspiration for people (like me), who would love to be able to bask in visually-appealing places, explore new scenes and be able to make new meanings out of ordinary spaces or see things in a different light.
